youtube-transcript is a private, owner-operated software tool run by Steve Kellar (the "Operator"). It is not a public service and is not offered to third-party users. It connects to the Operator's own YouTube channel using Google's OAuth 2.0 authorization.
The application requests exactly one Google permission scope:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.readonly. With that
read-only access it reads data from the Operator's own YouTube channel
(such as channel identity and video metadata) to support transcript
retrieval and knowledge-base ("kaizen") work inside the Operator's own
systems.
The application does not access Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, or any other Google service. It cannot modify or delete YouTube content; its access is read-only.
Data obtained through this application is used only inside the Operator's private systems. It is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties, and it is never used for advertising.
OAuth credentials (client ID, client secret, and refresh token) are stored in the Operator's encrypted secrets vault (Infisical). Access tokens are short-lived and generated on demand. No Google user data is stored on this website.
Access can be revoked at any time from the Google account permissions page (myaccount.google.com/permissions). Because the application is used only by the Operator on the Operator's own data, revocation ends all access immediately, and any locally stored metadata can be deleted on request.
